Age is Just a Number: The Legend Continues to Break New Records

Luka Modrić has set a new Serie A record, becoming the oldest midfielder to score in the league's history.

At the very beginning of the season, San Siro witnessed another magical evening. Modrić, at the age of 40, once again proved that he can decide a match on his own. Despite the tension of a dramatic match, fans enjoyed a spectacle that blended tactical football with moments of emotion and a memorable outcome.

Just five days after celebrating his 40th birthday, the Milan star scored the winning goal in his team's 1-0 win over Bologna in the third round of the Italian League. The victory was crucial, putting an exclamation point on the team's strong start to the season.

64-Year Record Renewed

It should also be noted that Modrić broke the 64-year-old Serie A record. The Croatian broke the record set by former Rossoneri midfielder Nils Liedholm, who scored against Inter Milan in March 1961 at the age of 38 years and 169 days.

With this goal, Modrić achieved another personal success, becoming only the third player over 40 to score for AC Milan, joining the esteemed company of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alessandro Costacurta.

After the match, an ecstatic Modrić told the press:

"It was a great way to celebrate. We won, which is the most important thing, and now we have to focus on the next matches.

"I hope people will not remind me of my age anymore! It was a good move, Ale gave me a great ball, and it was easy to score; it was more his pass than my finish.

"I thought the whole team fought well, game by game I am sure we will get more confident, and when players come back, when we get to know each other more, we will get better."

Modric was also chosen as the MVP of the match.

With this result, AC Milan now sit in the top five of the league table with six points, while Bologna sits in 13th place with three points.
